If you are a Flowr power user, you keep a tab open all the time so that you can get notifications about the posts. If you want to free that browser tab, you can turn your Flowr network into a Desktop application.

To do this, we’ll use a free application from Mozilla, called Prism. It works on Windows, OS X and Linux. We’ll show instructions for Windows, but it’s similar on all platforms.

  1. Download Prism. If you’re not using Firefox, download standalone application.
  2. Run Prism and configure it to use your network:
  3. You can use this optimized icon:
  4. You’ll create a new application that you can now run. Your Flowr network will now run as a standalone app:

You can now keep it running in the background and it’s going to notify you, whenever there is something new in your Flowr network:

  • Windows:
  • OS X (you might need Growl to make this work):

That’s it. Let us know in comments how it works for you.
